[Killietalk] Re: microworms
I have read that the yeast is only to make the worms crawl out of the media,
that it is not the food. I have tried it both with and without yeast and
can tell no difference in worm production or in their drive to crawl onto
the sides of the container. Does anybody know for sure the function of the
yeast?

The worms get out of the soup when things are too bad for them, too
much alcohol, CO2, too many worms, etc. If you can warm things up a
bit they will be more likely to climb.
Yeast is the primary food of the worms. Cultures get overrun by
competition from bacteria, etc. stinks! - worms don't like it either
and climb out.
