Maybe someone can help me. I have just hatched out four different species
of killies. I would like them to grow fast. I have the fry now in shoe

each box? Secondly, if I kept that many in each box, how often would I
have to change their water for them to grow fast, and not be stunted for
lack of space. And if I fed them twice a day on micro worms and brine
shrimp, how often would I need to change their water? >>

I ran an experiment once with Austrolebias bellottii fry in shoe boxes.
Everything was identical with about a dozen fry in each. In one box, I manually
changed the water about 30% every other day, my usual practice which sometimes
was neglected. The other box I hooked up to my automatic water changing system.
It was changed about 20% twice a day. The fry in the shoebox that was changed
twice a day grew three times as fast as the other box. Not statistically
sound, but enough to convince me to hook up every container I possibly could to
automatic water changing. In another experiment I ran at the same time I had 3
Aphyosemion australe fry in a similar shoe box hooked up for automatic water
changes as above. In three months those fry turned into a trio which were
producing young in the shoe box.
