RE: [Killietalk] rain reason and follow ups
For hatching water incubated eggs of killifish. I fill a small glass bowl
with tank water and add the eggs the water is swirled so it makes a whirl
pool and as the water is rotating I add the eggs as the water stops I add a
very few micro worms to the middle of the bowl. The bowl is then immersed
into a shoe box carefully the fry will swim out of the bowl into the shoe
box keeping the micro worm pollution to a minimum.

Subject: [Killietalk] rain reason and follow ups
The reason I use rain water is here on the island is that the water co puts
really major chemicals in the tap water and we get tons of rain...had a
major fish kill when using tap water..so never again..In addition the rain
water is run off from the roof..so it gets all kinds of goodies from the
plant matter that there..maybe not as electrolytes but the fry seems to be
doing just fine.. Nice and plump. Also the tap water is so hard it almost
breaks your face in the shower..GRIN.. with a ph that is out of this
world..almost 9 ...You get concrete we get bricks..but I will add a
sprinkle..
WOW that is a long time in the pocket...so i guess I was to short.. will
try again tomorrow..
Cold water shock.. in Colorado I hope that's not winter water???
And yes the microworms last...and I will not give up until I see the white
eggs.. I just figured that they would have pooped out before that or
something..
Thanks all for the suggestions..
