The late Al Castro also had a trick for forcing hatch by using deep 
water. As I recall, he put the eggs and water in a jar with a sligthly 
loose lid. The jar had to be essentially full. By sinking it in a deep 
tank, it apparently alters the gas transport in some way that forces the 
hatch. Never tried it myself.

My method is simpler, and never has failed. Try to take some unhatched 
eggs to the club auction. I guess this is a variant on the coat-pocket 
treatment. :-)

I almost forgot, I usually try the cold water shock treatment. Pour cold
water from the faucet onto the eggs. This also works quite well.
