Re: [Killietalk] gestation of F. gardneri

Something I do when I have eggs that are at this stage and won't hatch. I
take a 16" long piece of 1/8" hard tubing (the size used in some undergravel
filters) and attach a long piece of airline tubing to one end. I carefully
suck one egg into the tubing up to the end of the ridged tubing and then
blow it back into the container. I keep my eggs in a small rubbermaid
container. This causes the egg to open and the fry to emerge. I also use
this tubing to transfer fry from one container to another. Another method I
will do if I have a lot of eggs not hatching, is to run an airstone in the
container.
A method that is used commercially for mouthbrooding african cichlid eggs is
a device called an egg tumbler. I plan on researching this and possibly make
one for killie eggs when I have some extra free time.
