Re: [Killietalk] gestation of F. gardneri
I often have this same situatioon. I found that if I sprinkle a small
amount of flake food on the surface of the egg container and put the top
back on tight, that most of the eggs will be hatched out in a couple of
hours or more.

Hi Folks,
This is kind of a beginner question..But I am stumped.
I am presently spawning F gardneri and after the first batch went
well.. the subsequent eggs have kind of just reached a point in
gestation and stopped.. They are at the ..what you guys call Eye's Up
point but just won't hatch.. Sometimes I can sit and stare at the eggs
and see the little fishies move..but then nothing..some of the eggs
are approaching 28 days.. I thought gestation was 14 to 16 days..is
this incorrect???
I am keeping the eggs in small cups and changing the water every other
day with rain water.
Is this normal or is there something going on that i don't understand.
Thanks
Airwreck
