And the miles sail by. That reminds me, reserve a room
for the Michiana show.

And send to Dick Martino mentioning that Brian Watters
will grace the Chicago show Aril 9-10.

All the best!

for some reason , i believe alot of us drive long

I'm over 300 miles from the club (BAKA) in summer and about 450 miles in winter. Getting across 9000 ft passes can be pretty hairy, too. [SCKC is only about as far as the BAKA summer distance.] Gas prices make the trips prohibitive, sometimes.

This whole discussion makes a good point, better than anything I can say. There are enough of us around that we should find a way to make local affiliates far easier to form, IMO.

Monthly or semi-monthly travel to a much closer spot could be augmented by travel once or twice a year to one of the major regional shows and/or convention.

We have three killie keepers here in Bishop, and a couple of more interested parties that might like to stay in touch. Is there anything the AKA could do to make it easier and more attractive for smaller clubs to form and meet more locally?

Should the BOT take a closer look at what the requirements are for recognizing and supporting a new affiliate, and what could the AKA do to make life easier for those doing so?

I think it might make for a stronger hobby. I'd still try to make WCW and Convention, if possible. I also enjoy the Fish Fry in Malibu that SCKC puts on, and one of us wants to go to the Cactus Killie Cookout at ARK. The big advantage would be the closer location of periodic meetings for new folks, who can benefit so much from a little personal contact.

Do it and we'll wrangle those newbies into sharing the long rides to Phoenix or Castro City. ;-)

Just my plaintive cry in the wilderness, echoing off the Sierras and White Mountains... :-)
