[Killietalk] Orestias

Brian,

Thanks, I should have stated this question a little differently for
greater clarity.

A)I had heard some stories about the Orestias fishes of Lake Titicaca
being under pressure from introduced food fish and habitat degradation.
I understand that some of the fish in the genus are on the ICUN Red list
(one of the Chilean species, I believe), and

B)at least one species is being bred in Germany.

1)Is anyone keeping the fish on this side of the Atlantic?
2)Are they under imminent threat in their native locale?

I.E. What is the status of this fish in captivity and in the wild? Has
anyone gone to collect there in recent memory?

Thanks,

Brian

Brian,

I am not sure exactly what you mean by "status" (nomenclature,
conservation,
etc.) but have you checked "A World of Killies", Volume IV ? That volume
included Orestias. __________________________________________
