Re: [Killietalk] Killie Supplies

This is a joint reply to save time and space. It is a reply to Bill and Curtis.

I kept and raised fish I liked when I started keeping fish. I then had several good batches of fry which brought enough money that I stocked up on feed(flake mostly). The next batch I still had plenty of feed so I purchased more tanks and expanded under the direction of the shop keeper I was selling to. He had problems keeping certain fished stocked. The large sailfin mollies was one of these expansions. I had a few old books that my parents had aquired during there aquarium keeping days. One of these had some beautiful pics of Killies and a short description on how to raise then. I searched and searched for these fish over a time of about 6 years. I never found any until I have started getting back into fish in the last few monthes and nearly the only place is the internet. More people want these strange fish and just do not have the means to find them is a strong believe of mine. I am a beekeeper. I looked for 2 years trying to find the American Bee Jurnal(ABJ). This mag is only distributed to subscribers. We got a computer and got on line and I found it in less the 3 minutes. Access is the key to getting these fish more popular. Yes alot of the fish fanciers will never raise any. I have paid so outrages prices to get the rare and unusual. $40 each for blushing angels 16 years ago and now they are more common and much cheaper but at the time they had to be ordered direct from the breeders. I would gladly pay my local LFS 3 times your wholesale $6 a pair for these fish to have access to them. I can not get a pair to me that cheap from you once you add shipping(overnight or at least 2 day) with heat packs this time of year. That is another side I have seen while trying to get these fish is club/society you need to be in to really get these fish.

There are a lot of "black holes" in our hobby. a black hole
is someone who, when a new fish goers into their fish room, it is never heard of again.

If a shop were to pay $6 + for a pair, they would have to sell them for a lot more. I could not sell a fish for $3 that it cost me $6 to raise and make it up in volume.
