Get a good strain if you are going to be serious.   I have seen them a 
almost fluorescent green/yellow and also some that were much more drab.

With the red lineatus I found that current in the tank boosts the egg 
production.  I got 3 or 4 eggs a day before putting a small outside power 
filter on the tank and it then went to thirty to forty a day from a trio.
