Re: [Killietalk] Recycling Daphnia water

Hello Loraine,

Moina neonates are about 300 micron -- way larger than your 50Î screen.

Unless you are saving water, why would you want to do that? Isn't it easier to just add a bit of fertilizer to replacement water?

In the Moina culture water smaller rotifers could be present. Some rotifer neonates COULD pass the 50Î screen. They will rapidly ruin your green water culture.

Best,

George

Has anyone tried recycling the daphnia water back to the green water
culture.

I am using a 50 micron filter to suck the water out of the daphnia tanks.

I am not sure how small a newly born moina baby is, but if it is larger
than 50 microns then would this be possible? I realize that the last thing
we need is daphnia in the green water culture.

Just a thought
