This yellowish mossy stuff is nasty in the tank. Tried it. Rots out pretty
quick.
But despite what others say, if you get the same stuff but find the bags
that are very dark brown and look like they are trying to be peat then you
have a good material to use. At least for Fundulopanchax. Been using it for
years. Swear by it. My fish 'do the nasty by it'. Easily last six months in
various tanks. Takes days to soak it enough to get it to sink. I will have a
little of it in just about all tanks for the tannins it gives off. I tell
the Blue Gularis it is the stuff from Europe that people talk about. They
believe me.
