No, a thousand times no! You got sphagnum moss and not peat moss. Not
the same stuff, at all. Peat has undergone significant alteration in
anaerobic sub-arctic bogs, so is very resistant to further rotting, etc.
Dried moss is totally different and can raise hell in your tanks.
Fibrous peat is wonderful stuff, but we cannot afford it in the US. It
is priced right up with platinum at the LFS. It is virtually free, in
northern Europe, and what we use usually comes with box exchanges with
the SKS or DKG. Apparently it is a by-product/waste of normal
agricultural peat production. [Unfortunately, we can't get our Canadian
killifish keepers out of their Mercedes long enough to go find a more
available source. ;-)]
