Re: [Killietalk] A Quick Linear Pump Question

Based on my experience, you hit the basic difference between linear pumps and blowers, blowers produce volume but little pressure. Linear pump produce pressure. My fish room contains plumbing from 35 years and different locations. I still have some Schedule 80 PVC the first PVC available some 30+ years ago.

I use an 80 watt, into a one inch pipe, down to an old 3/4 inch pipe, I use elbows, and some valves are old screw brass into the schedule 80 PVC. some simple plastic valves punched into other sections of PVC.

I have about 95 tanks and 100 or so valves running, there is more than enough air. I use Hydro sponges in all my larger tanks and all of them have air stones in them, most tanks are small, less than 123 inches in height. but I have 3 55 gallon tanks, and two 30 gallon tanks, all have two large hydro sponges with air stones. things work well.,

My 80 watt has been running for 4 years 24 hours a day, more air than I need, and so quiet all you hear are air bubbles...............

I believe you can not find a better pump for any fish room..................

With a blower I used 1.25" piping to feed the tanks & pushed a valve into
this pipe above each tank. The blower produces volume but little pressure.
Would a linear power a similar system or should it be tapered off to smaller
diameter piping the further from the pump?
