I forgot to mention a very important characteristic of collecting in Uruguay 
in July -- it is cool and comfortable, at least the air temperature. On the 
other hand when returning, it is hot and uncomfortable for both the collector 
and the collected fish. Not like collecting in Peru, Alabama, South Carolina, 
etc., in the heat. We wore waders as protection, primarily from the cold. Water 
at 4 degrees C is painful to wade in.
