Lee, I am not sufficiently familiar with the rainfall pattern in So. America
to argue with you. However, the reason I posed the question is because the
rainfall tables for Uruguay and Argentina (near Buenos Aires) that I have
looked at (there is a lot of good data available on the internet) show that
while there is a good rainfall throughout the year the months from about
November to March have the highest rainfall, i.e. during the southern
hemisphere summer and the northern hemisphere winter - which is contrary to
the original statement above. For example, for Rosario in Argentina (NW of
B.A. on the Parana) the driest month is August (36.7 mm average) and the
wettest month is January (117.1 mm average). There are lots of similar
examples that I could give you.
