Charles is right. Larger diameter is good, particularly as flow volume 
increases.

My next system will bypass the plumbing-type pipes, and go to conduit, 
for the larger diameter and gradual bends at 90 degreee corners means 
that plastic conduit is quieter and more efficient than the abrupt 
corners with water pipes. It may actually be cheaper and lighter. IDK.
