[Killietalk] air pumps

Hi Tim,
Because your 200-250 outlet requirement is (in my opinion) right at the
cutoff point between being able to use the largest Jehmco linear piston
pump instead of a blower, you should try to do a reasonably accurate
estimation of flow rates for each type tank you will have. Simply get a
clear measuring cup and invert it (filled) under water. Then position it
over the outlet of the box filter you are using at the flow rate you
normally run. Record the time it takes for the measuring cup to fill and
figure a flow rate. Repeat for every different size tank if you run them
at different flow rates. Total it up to find your requirement. If you
have mostly small tanks (10 gal or less) my guess is you could get away
with the largest Jehmco linear piston pump (for 200 outlets) if your
nomuianl flow rate is around 800 cc/min. If you normamlly like to roil the
water with flow rates at or above 1000cc/min, I think you will need a
blower. Because the economics so favor the linear piston pump, I'd do a
careful estimate.
