I notice that my pupfish absolutely love laying eggs in a "frizzy" mop  right 
below and in the tightest part of the knot.  I  agree its a pain to pull eggs 
from the frizzy mop but an option is  rotating mops and just moving the mop 
to a hatching container.  Just a  thought.
