I suspect the adsorption sites are not selective and when they are used, they 
are used. I am sure that some portion of the adsorbed chlorine could be 
decomposed by thiosulfate. However, if you are going to add thiosulfate, just add 
thiosulfate to the water. However, for an automatic water change system that 
would require some sort of injection mechanism.  However, you can regenerate 
carbon by heating at 850 degrees F. Not in my kitchen.
