[Killietalk] carbon leaching
I have always had a problem with folks over-concerned with carbon leaching into an aquarium after it has fully absorbed what it can. Seems to me, in organically laden water, a film will eventually cover the carbon and keep it from leaching much if anything at all into the water. This is a common phenomenon with coral in fresh water. If added to soft, acidic water, eventually it will dissolve so slowly because of the film, it virtually stops and the P.H will eventually fall back to the waters source value. This is something I have seen quite a bit here on the Oregon coast! Of course, it's a speculative idea, without empirical data haha, but its a conversation worth suggesting.
