Of course, when the equilibrium condition is surpassed. Most carbon filters
in box or outside filters no longer adsorb anything after about a week or less.

In my use of carbon, it is a once through adsorption of chlorine and
chloramine from the tapwater and I monitor that performance by testing in random
fashion when I think of it. After about 4 months I think of it more often. When the
adsorption sites are filled, the chlorine is released back into the water
effluent.
