Hi all,

I`m still working on my water problems and I was amazed after talking to a large number of experienced Killie breeders to find that they use aged tap water in their tanks.

Duane,
I am with Lee with this as you know. I have killed more fish with Chlorine than any other way, even jumping. There was a time I could just age the tap water but not anymore. Take a 5 gallon bucket, fill it with tap water and stick an air stone in it and roll it with air for a week, then test it for chlorine . . . if it is stabilized Chlorine (Chloramine) it will still contain 2 to 5 PPM Chlorine. It is enough to kill most air breathing Betas, certainly our Killies.

I still like the batch treatment, treating 55 gallon at once, bringing the drum of water up to temperature and treating with Thiosulfate and testing to see if it is OK and free of Chlorine.
