Thanks Tyrone,

    You answered my only question about this system - whether the bacteria 
needed light to survive. The picture of the system they showed was using clear 
acrylic but in translation it was called PVC. I am going to build one of these 
out of PVC for my reef tank in an effort to reduce nutrients that algae can 
use. For some reason I am much more diligent with water changes and maintenance 
in my killie tanks than in my 55+ tanks. Must be toting those 5 gallon water 
bottles.
