I'm not a chemist, but even *I* know not to do this, Lonny. Read it right on most bleach bottles' labels! [If you want to make chloramines, dilute the bleach way, way down, first.]


Besides, bleach is being grossly oversold here.

I can attest from experience that 3 weeks of concentrated (diluted <50%) bleach on gravel failed to kill the (trapdoor) Malaysian Trumpet Snails (and any bacterial hitchhikers). [Gave them ugly blotchy shells, though!] Also, the waxy coating on *Mycobacterium* is quite capable of resisting bleaches, so you won't eliminate Fish TB with it, either.

Chlorox is a pretty good general disinfectant, but don't trust it to do the whole job in tough cases.
