Man oh man, I would never mix ammonia with clorox! This creates chlorine

one of the "chemists" on here can attest to this.
Lonny Langione Dover,
I'm not a chemist, but even *I* know not to do this, Lonny. Read it
right on most bleach bottles' labels! [If you want to make chloramines,
dilute the bleach way, way down, first.]
Besides, bleach is being grossly oversold here.
I can attest from experience that 3 weeks of concentrated (diluted <50%)
bleach on gravel failed to kill the (trapdoor) Malaysian Trumpet Snails
(and any bacterial hitchhikers). [Gave them ugly blotchy shells,
though!] Also, the waxy coating on *Mycobacterium* is quite capable of
resisting bleaches, so you won't eliminate Fish TB with it, either.
Chlorox is a pretty good general disinfectant, but don't trust it to do
the whole job in tough cases.
