Hi Y'all,

 Bittter did a experiment on this in french Guyana with a spotted and 
striped form of a species.  The spotted form had gone extinct,  Bitter 
replaced them with the striped form at the same locality.  Subsequent visits 
 and collection reulted in a gradual shift in pattern back to the spotted 
form of the fish.

This was in a AKA national talk in the late 80's early 90's
