Re: [Killietalk] daphnia baby size

Subject: [Killietalk] daphnia baby size

Hi all!
I'm guessing a lot of people already tought it, anyway I cant find info
about:
What is the size of daphnia babyes? is it possible to use "daphnia water" to
hatch annuals eggs? or just have a tank full of daphnia to put in a mop full
of aphyo eggs?

Without the benefit of a microscope, I really don't know if what I am doing makes sense, but.....

I have been

* dipping a BBS net several times into my daphnia culture,

* putting the contents into a small amount of culture water,

* running that water though a doubled standard green fish net, to seive out the daphnia. These get fed to adult fish.

* taking the water that remains and putting it in with fry.

The hope is that they get baby daphnia and other infusoria from the daphnia culture.

There does seem to be some biomass in the net. No idea if I'm wasting my time here, except that very tiny gourami fry seem to be surviving and growing. But maybe they're just grazing on the fauna in the java moss.

I need a microscope.
