If a bag hasn't been properly sealed, Joseph, and the peat gets too dry, I have found that a small pad of moistened paper towel can be added and the dampness will slowly spread over a day or two's time. A bit of sponge should work the same. Better to have to repeat than to overdo it and mess up the gestation, IMHO. That is, don't get it *too* wet.

Properly taped bags never seem get dry in my fishroom. I don't use any zipper bags. Others do, so I've had to learn to deal with those problems.
