Re: [Killietalk] Killie logistics? (was Re: Locating eggs in peat?) <long-ish>
I had the same problem when I first started with Fp gar P-82. The female was
dropping 50 eggs a day and they were nearly all hatching. In no time I had
fry containers everywhere. It finally dawned on me(I'm a little dense at
times) to take the mop away. That stopped the eggs. I had the same problem with
A. Bit Benin City. I took the mop away and fry started to show up in the
plants. I then took a pair and dropped them into a tank of apistograma borelli to
use as dither fish. The next thing I knew, I had bit fry showing up in the
cichlid tank, but no cichlid fry. Some fish are just born to breed, while
others have to be bribed to produce a single viable egg. I have learned to adjust
my breeder stock so that I have just a few prolific types and some others
that are slower producers
