I gotta agree with Lonny -but once the scales come up the kidneys are
likely gone and there is little hope for the patient. Isolation and
keeping the infection from spreading to other tank members is
important. CHANGE THE WATER! give them fresh water and treat with
salt and antibiotic. Good luck!

bacterial infection. Can also be caused by constipation, usually a secondary
condition to the internal infection. It is most common in goldfish.
Treatment can sometimes be achieved with tetracycline or penicillin.
Naladixic acid is best though. See if your local fish store carries Naladin
