The F in F0 and F1 stands for the word filial. It was used in genetics to signify how many generations the organisms were bred back to their siblings. Thus F0 is suppose to represented a cross between non-sibling organisms. F1 represented a cross between siblings from non_sibling parents. The F1 generation was the resulting organisms from the first in-breeding. F2 represented the breeding of siblings of siblings. The F2 generation was the result of breeding siblings of the F1 generation. Originally these terms did not imply anything but the degree of inbreeding in a genetic experiment.
These terms however, have taken on slightly different meanings in Killi World and that's fine since it has become pretty much standard to call wild fish F0 and first generation F1.
