I agree that hybridisation does not always produce conclusive results and
certainly should be used together with other forms of evidence when trying
to distinguish between species. However, if crossings are  clearly
non-viable then it constitutes good supporting evidence that one is dealing
with distinct species. As you point out with the N. guentheri X N.
korthausae cross, the opposite is not always true. By the way, has it been
documented that this crossing has persisted through 6 or more generations or
is it just rumour ?
