[Killietalk] Voting and red lineatus eggs
On this note, i.e., "forced to vote". I had the good fortune to meet a
couple from Australia earlier this year, and we exchange emails regularly
now. Their more recent emails show a complete lack of understanding as to
how we could put up with such a system that floods our airwaves with
political ads for months, and then yields such a low voter turnout.
According to them, Australia only allows a few weeks of political
campaigning, maybe 6 if I remember correctly, and then the vote is
mandantory. If one does not vote, they are fined something like $25. Well,
I for one think this is a splendid pair of ideas. First get rid of MONTHS
of TV ads, speeches, mailings, stumping across the country on fund raisers
when they should be doing the job they are being paid for, etc., and second,
get the vote to be truly a vote of the people - all the people.
Sorry for the very off-subject comment, but I thought it was an interesting
concept.
Back to killies:
I had 3 pair of red lineatus in an outdoor pond for the summer. They are
all of the same lineage and of the same age. I brought them inside a short
while ago and gave each pair and identical 5.5 gal tank. One pair is
loading down the mop with eggs. The other two pairs either are not laying
any eggs, or are eating them, but I check the mops frequently, just to see,
but no eggs!. Any ideas?
