RE: [Killietalk] Incubators?
Hi Y'all,
BE CAREFUL with chicken egg incubators.
2 reasons:
1. They become very effective desicators if you do not provide an
evaporateable water source.
2. If the thermostat fails as did mine in my Hova bator brand (best on the
market.) You will have scrambled eggs. I lost $2000 dollars worth in
potential Varanus Monitor lizard production when it failed on me.
Fortunately I had a second group of eggs developing in another egg
incubator. For the record Varanus can withstand temps of 120 F and they
still got cooked. I am guessing the incubator was in the 140-160 range. A
little hot for even the toughest Notho ever built!!
Just a heads up. A back up thermostat may be an alternative, controlling
the whole system as a failsafe.
God Bless,Lee <><
