[Killietalk] New and Rare
Hi there,
A non-computer killie friend has asked to me post this to this
"Discussion", that being said, I'm only the messenger!
Oh yes, I noticed a special thanks to Stan Perkins, is he related
to
Brian Perkins, thanks!
>>>That's me! You can call me what ever you like, just not too late for
the BBQ !!!:O)
Also speaking of N&R, has anyone noticed the WAKO
Show coming attractions, WOW!
>>>Don't they do an awesome job????
How do you spell proxy bid!
I had understood from some previous postings that the New & Rare
was
to be sold, or given, to experienced AKA breeders so that the species
could
have wider distribution after these breeders were successful with
them...
>>>No. what we are trying to do is offer them for sale through the BNL
so that all members have a shot at them, not just the "experts"
If
they are sold to a regional club for general sale how does that
guarantee
the continuation of a pair of Killifish. Someone with no knowledge of
killies or a novice keeper could buy them because they think they're
pretty
or they like the name or they think they can get rich off of them.
>>>There is that risk, although we all started as "novices" and today's
novice is tomorrow's master breeder.
I am
beginning to think that the N & R group ? person ? is only interested in
making a buck or so for him (them) selves and think nothing of
maintaining
the species and distributing it to a larger group of afficianados.
>>>Exactly the opposite. We want to see the fish get around to all
members. Maybe you have the "scaly thumb" with this certain fish and can
raise a gazillion of them!?!?!?! How do we know till you take the plunge
and give it a try. That being said, the committee does need funds to
function, so the fish will be sold so that it can sustain itself and
support the membership's desire to have access to the N & R out
there....
Join your local affiliate, and you will have access to a great wealth of
knowledge and expertise, attend the AKA convention in the DC are next
spring and you'll meet many, many experienced people to discuss how to
be successful with the fish you choose. Keep an ear here on K-talk
too.....
I hope this helps,
Brian
