[Killietalk] Fundulopanchax scheeli importation question
I seem to remember a strain of scheeli (still working
to apply Fundulopanchax after using Aphyosemion for a
couple of decades) entered the hobby a few years ago
which was designated as from Cameroons. The type
locatity for both of the described subspecies were in
Nigeria.
And of course when it first came into the hobby it was
known as the Burundi Aphyosemion and traveled in some
circles as A. vexillifer. Whether the scheeli and
subspecies scheeli akampkpaensis are distinct was also
an issue. So, it has often been the subject of some
controversy.
At the risk of setting myself up for a couple of punch
lines, was there actually a strain in the '90s which
circulated as a scheeli from Cameroon? If so, would
anyone know what place that fish was from and in there
is any printed item about it.
Thanks and all the best,
