[Killietalk] N. symoensi

Hi George,

I'm waiting for my sixth generation of symoensi to hatch. Once they
reach sexing out size they stop being big eaters for some reason -- especially the
males. I would keep them cool 74-75F. They are not fond of heat. I would keep
the filtration SLOW. I keep 4 males and 6 females in a 10 gallon with a
corner filter going slow enough that I can almost count the bubbles. I keep them in
slightly soft acid water all the time with lots of plants. I have found that
chopped blackworms, live baby brine shrimp, grindal worms and daphnia are all
good foods. They are a shy pretty peaceful Notho that I treat almost like a
small Aphyosemion water wise.

You might want to give them a dose of flubendazole 5% for internal bugs.
Charles Harrison of the St Louis club sells it. It works well on female Nothos.

Be sure to breed what you have as I hatched 50 fry from my first ones that
were weak and only lived a month after being held in the mail a week during the
9-11 crisis in 2001!
