[Killietalk] S. zonatus - water incubation

Last night I cleaned a tank with a pair of Simp. zonatus and I strained 
the waste water through a net to look for eggs. I let this settle in a 
small bowl and was surprised to find 2 fry swimming in the bowl. I know 
some people have experimented with water incubation of SA annuals, but 
has anyone had it happen accidentally like this? This seems like an 
easier way to get fry (though in small quantities). I wonder if they 
would maintain a population in a tank with lots of cover like many of 
the mop spawners?
