Subject: Banded Killies Update
Hi all,
After having been at my new apartment for nearly a week, I'm pleased to
report that all of my banded killies are alive and well. This is a big
success for me after losing 5/10 of them in the initial transit. I didn't
do much in the way of improving their actual transport. In fact, they were
not even in an insulated container and got pretty warm (My last styro was
full of the 100 or so baby hets I was surprised to find).
What I did do differently was that instead of acclimating them over the
course of an hour or so like normal fish, I brought water with me, filled
up their tank with it and have been slowly acclimating them a quart or so
at a time over the course of the week. I did my first large water change
today and they're all still happy!
For those of you who have kept these fish before, what do you feed them?
I've been feeding mostly pure spirulina and earthworm flake because it's
all I have that they take. They show very little interest in either freeze
dried or frozen bloodworms, and mysis shrimp are still too large (they're
only an inch or two long). I'd like to diversify their diet a bit though.
