:Dear all,
Does anyone know which SPP population is that at AKA's homepage? Also, where does one draw the line between Chromaphyosemion and Aphyosemion?
Regards, Ronnie Lee Singapore
Hi Ronnie,
Since the welcome image changes, I assume you are talking a bout the image from the BKA photographer Mel Addicott in 1980. At that time there were many populations of splendopleure available, but few had locations............ that we can only list as aquarium strain, it did appear in some material as "multicolor".
Regarding Aphyosemion /Chromaphyosemion............ The name Chromaphyosemion as a genus is not accepted universally, specifically the AKA follows the Killifish Master Index 4 for all taxonomic issues, and KMI CORRECT Statement should read " List Aphyosemion as the genus and Chromaphyosemion as a sub genus as originally described; however it does not use the sub genus in the name, hence according to KMI4 and others the species involved are simply listed as Aphyosemion".
Perhaps you noticed the absence of Chromaphyosemion in the list of genera in the gallery............
