Thanks for the discussion on peat. One of your statements may cause
confusion, however. Ammonia can not be removed from water by boiling. It might be
driven out of the peat this way and into the water which you discarded, but I
don't want anyone to get the idea of trying to get rid of ammonia or chloramine
by boiling their tap water.
When we make our distilled water for making chemical reagents and
performing tests at the plant, we run it through an ion exchange unit after
distillation to remove the ammonia.
