RE: Affiliates (was Re: [Killietalk] RE: Importations)
I was hoping it might spread the work around.
That way, affiliate clubs (and their virtual members)
could research sources, work with the AKA's shipping
permits, but have boxes sent directly to affiliate
clubs to spread out the work of acclimating,
establishing, repackaging and shipping. And when
really rare species are received, a club can start a
project for propogation, conservation and distribution
over several generations (as many do now,) all
notifying the wider AKA membership of progress and
availability.
But like I said, I'm new, and I don't know much about
the nuts & bolts of how the AKA is doing things now.
If all the bases are covered, then it's not needed.
Still, virtual memberships in affiliate clubs might
help isolated hobbiests feel less isolated.
