[Killietalk] Fundulus diaphanus (Banded Killifish)
Hi all,
For those of you on the NFC list, you've already seen this question, but I
thought I might get some good answers here as well.
I've tried twice to get some Fundulus diaphanus for myself recently. The
first time I caught 6 and 3 died within hours. I just got back from the
second time and I've already lost one and might lose at least one more.
I've transported them in both their own water and treated tap water with
the fish packed as if I was going to ship them. Even the fish that live
look close to dead and sometimes float upside down for a while until
they've been in their tank for a bit.
There's plenty of oxygen for an hour ride home for them. They were packed
in breather bags this last time. I havn't measured the params of the lake
because I stumbled on it the first time and today I just forgot to take the
test equipment. It's possible that the pH or something else are way off but
other than that does anyone have any ideas?
Jim
