Re: [Killietalk]NEW MEMBERS
It would seem, much to my chagrin, that I have to come again to KilliTalk and beg forgiveness of those of you who are waiting to hear about your new memberships.
As many of you know, my transition into the roll of "membership chairman" this year has been shaky at best. Many of the regular readers of KilliTalk are aware of the problems I have had over the summer, and they seem to be growing. The computer I use to do the memberships on at my home had a BIG meltdown last month. I spent the better part of that time rebuilding my system and reloading backup files. There was a small amount of information "lost" that had to be rebuilt. The good news is that I'm back and functional again. The bad news is, I'm behind again.
I'm asking everyone to please bear with me. I got my email functional about a week ago, and am answering questions as fast as I can. Everyone who has sent me a request for a new membership is entered into the system and will receive the August BNL. New member packets have been mailed, and your passwords are included. The new memberships are pretty much tied to my machine and when it died, new memberships ceased to be entered.
I think I have a handle on how to make sure this doesn't happen again. I have an old 486 that I restored, and it's function is to do nothing but hold the most up to date version of the membership rolls. If my main machine decides to go south on me again, I can fall back to the other machine so that there would be no interruption of services to anyone. I apologize to everyone that it took a "problem" to point out that the AKA needed a better system.
Please let me say to all of you, I'm Sorry. I really do hope that a situation like this will NEVER AGAIN be a cause of dissatisfaction to you, the members.
Sincerely
Steve Sump
