I wouldn't keep them with other large fish; you're just asking for a fight.
I think you might be able to get a way with smaller fast fish. I used to use
zebra danios to cycle tanks and I had some fry grow up uneaten. I think the
SJO are pretty lazy hunters...

I *think* they're sympatric with some lampeyes, I wonder if you had a large
enough tank with some current if they would divide it peaceably.
