RE: [Killietalk] Nothobranchius egg sizes?
Following the discussion earlier today, I measured some egg sizes (with a
microscope) of the Nothos in question:
N. janpapi (population: Kitonga north TAN 03-22): 0.762 mm (5 eggs
measured, range 0.752-0.784 mm)
N. rachovii (population Marromeu MW 99): 1.031 mm (7 eggs measured, range
1.008-1.031 mm)
N. rachovii (population KNP Black): 1.001 mm (12 eggs measured, range
0.960-1.072 mm)
Obviously, the number of eggs measured was statistically insufficient but
the above does provide a rough idea of size and variability.
And, yes, as Barry has pointed out, Aphyobranchius is a valid subgenus of
Nothobranchius.
