[Killietalk] Brine Shrimp Eggs
I have a question.....for all you brine shrimp experts out there.
I have for as long as I can remember been getting my brine shrimp eggs for
Brine Shrimp Direct. These are fantastic eggs. I usually get the 90%
premium eggs. I just hate to deal with the excess casings.
I recently acquired a package of NABS - North American Brine Shrimp. They
say on the package that they are from the Great Salt Lake. Same place I
would presume that BSD gets their eggs.
I found over the last couple weeks of testing the following:
The eggs take about a day longer to hatch and that the baby brine shrimp
are ORANGE. Now I know that they are always orange, but these guys are
almost red, they are orange. The color is noticeably different.
My question is....do these BBS have more beta carotene or color enhancers
in them than the normal ones>
How can they be different than the eggs I have been getting from BSD?
They appear to be more expensive than BSD, but if they make my fish color
up better it might be worth switching to this product.
Anybody have any clues?
Allan
