Here is a summary, I received from Wright Huntley
They weren't enough different from regular microworms to get a lot of
write up. Herr Walter observed that they seemed to stay alive much
longer, once in the water, than other microworms he has grown. I believe
he had selected a strain that did just that and they may have been a tad
smaller than some of our cultures that we had at the time, hence his
name for them of "mini-mikro-worms."
I haven't heard of any serious further study of them, but out here in
the boonies I don't hear everything. :-)
Wright
PS. I didn't much care for the non-English mini-mikro name, so I'm
probably the guilty party who started (like in "Grindal") calling them
Walter Worms after the one who had first cultivated and spread them to
the hobby, Helmut Walter. [We propagated and sent a lot out from that
"black-hole" of killifish stuff, BAKA. :-) No idea how many are still in
use, tho.]
