[Killietalk] Golden Killies ID

After a loong search within a few books sure is hard to find exactly which
species we are dealing with.
But after reading it does seem that they would be happy as clams in a tank
(my 50gl) without other fish to bother them. The tank is getting over grown
with plants and the book says that this is also an ideal habitat for them. I
also still have two males (one at each end of the tank) and three females
but also that dang algae, it just doesn't want to go, it wanes then comes
back, blackout worked a bit but also killed some fisah when they got stuck
in the rocks and died. Plus some plats went yellow, the algae was onlny
dented. Phosex used, worked , sort of, New lights , no dif, Less light time,
no dif oh and the algae is three types, black little clumps. green fuzz and
string green . Been thinking about depth charges?
BTW, the substrate is now 20% coral sand (for root growth makes up only a 1
inch layer on the very bottom) 80% mohs scale 7-8 type rocks
smooth beach tumbled jaspers, quartz, jade, bloodstone, and a few other very
hard rocks , no organics decaying in there.
Also, my feeding has been cut by 3/4, so all that should be helping with
controlling algae feeding nuritants... So why is it so happy to be growing
in there.
But the real reason for this message is about handing out "Pink slips" to
the other inhabitants and figuring out what I should keep besides the
killies. I really should have some sort of janitorial crew like Corycats?
Clown loaches will eat eggs on the bottom but do eat the snails , and
without them I would have a snail problem , but then I could do as io used
to and squash the snails and feed them to the killies whcih relish them, eho
said they have no taste for the good life... Ok better jump off. Too many
topicsfor one subject but ,maybe someone might have some help for these
mutli problems I have ,
