Re: [Killietalk] p-82
To clarify:
Killietalk does accept images. This is a change in policy, but it has
nothing to do with a "move to Actwin". It became feasible when we changed
from majordomo list software to Mailman. Image size limit is set to 100Kb.
That should be enough for a good shot of most fish for display on a
terminal. Image sizes should be thought of in terms of pixels x pixels, and
Wright is correct that 640x480 should be sufficient. He is also is correct
in saying that you should use jpeg format. Web browsers cannot display tiff
files and certain other formats.
If you send an image that is too large, the list manager (Ken Simolo) will
have to approve it. Under some circumstances he may do so, or he may ask
you to reduce the size. It is pointless, for example, to send a 6" wide
image at 300 pixels per inch. That would be 1800 pixels wide. As your
monitor can only display at about 72 pixels per inch, the image on your
screen would be 25 inches wide!
In summary, you can attach images to killietalk messages. Keep them to
about 640x480 pixels and use jpeg format.
